Information
The idea of establishing a children's museum took shape in 1971
during the renewal of the Frankfurt Historical Museum and its approach
"Arts for All". Its goal was to bring the museum visitors of tomorrow
closer to the museum at an early age. Just weeks after the reopening
of the Historical Museum, the Children's Museum opened its doors on
November 7, 1972. Since then, the Children's Museum has been a successful,
integral part of the cultural youth scene in Frankfurt. The Children's
Museum is a meeting point for children and families the whole year round.
In addition to its changing exhibits the printing workshop, arts and
crafts courses, birthday parties, and diverse other activities are firmly
anchored in the annual program of the Children's Museum. We look forward
to your visit to the Children's Museum! We are located virtually (and
really!) at the center of Frankfurt's inner city.
The Children's museum is a member of the non-profit Federal Association
of German Youth and Children's Museums (Bundesverband
der Deutschen Kinder- und Jugendmuseen e.V.)
